Using Damien Hirst’s Kaleidoscope Painting series as inspiration, students created a unique pattern or radial design using Photoshop. They considered color, shape, and repetition in their compositions as they focused on images of butterflies, moths, and other insects. This introductory project allowed students to utilize the fundamental skills to search and download high-resolution imagery off the internet, bring multiple images into Photoshop, and manipulate the images through transformations in scale and rotation as they designed their own ‘kaleidoscope painting’.
