Students visually communicated a stance on a social issue that was personally significant to them through the use of symbolism. By demonstrating additive and subtractive processes through clay techniques, students carved and modeled clay to create a mask form while considering balance, positive and negative space, texture, line, movement, emphasis, and color to unify the piece and to convey their social issue message.
