Students chose an animal with unique textures that could drawn through various line weights and stylized marks. Then, through art examples, class discussions, and practice exercises focusing on positive and negative space, balance, and composition, students used scratchboard and etching tools to create an animal using only line to portray shape, texture, value, and contrast in their final piece.
