Students discussed artwork by Hannah Hoch, Kurt Schwitters, Barbara Kruger, Sauvadet Sylvain, and John Stezaker and how the artist visually commented on or critiqued a political or social issue that was culturally relevant. Then, students were asked what kind of issues are we facing as humans, members of society, or even as individuals in the 21st century. Students chose a social issue that they found significant, researched that issue, designed a poster in Photoshop that visually communicated their perspective on that issue, and presented their artwork and research to their classmates.
